Southwold is a charming north Suffolk seaside town on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Almost an island, being bounded by the North Sea to the East, by the River Blyth and Southwold harbour to the South–West and by Buss Creek to the North, there is just the one road in to and out of Southwold

Ideally situated under the Southwold lighthouse and just two minutes walk from the sea, the Sole Bay Inn Pub is the closest pub to the famous Adnams Brewery - you can see it from the pub.

Had beer and wine here :-)

... this is the place to buy it!
... and here to eat it!!
... Sam is patiently waiting for left overs :-)

... this is relaxing, and somebody is taking the dog for a walk ;-)

... tea, of course ...
... end of pier
... will be back!!!

Our guide took us to a historic place not far away, Sutton Hoo, simular to our National park at home

In 1939 Mrs Edith Pretty, a landowner at Sutton Hoo, Suffolk, asked archaeologist Basil Brown to investigate the largest of many Anglo-Saxon burial mounds on her property. Inside, he made one of the most spectacular archaeological discoveries of all time.
Beneath the mound was the imprint of a 27-metre-long ship. At its centre was a ruined burial chamber packed with treasures: Byzantine silverware, sumptuous gold jewellery, a lavish feasting set, and most famously, an ornate iron helmet. Tiny fragments showed that rich textiles once adorned the walls and floor, along with piles of clothes ranging from fine linen overshirts to shaggy woollen cloaks and caps trimmed with fur. The dead man’s body had dissolved in the acidic soil, but he was clearly a person of great standing in the kingdom of East Anglia. He may even have been a king.
The Sutton Hoo ship burial provides remarkable insights into early Anglo-Saxon England. It reveals a place of exquisite craftsmanship and extensive international connections, spanning Europe and beyond. It also shows that the world of great halls, glittering treasures and formidable warriors described in Anglo-Saxon poetry was not a myth.
Mrs Edith Pretty donated the finds to the British Museum in 1939. The site at Sutton Hoo is managed by the National Trust.

Heather took me here the last afternoon ... Hitchin Lavender, Hertfordshire

Hitchin Lavender is a lavender farm attraction close to both London and Cambridge.
We have around 25 miles of lavender rows which you can walk through and pick your own fresh flowers from.

As well as the fields of lavender we also grow sunflowers and have a wildflower area.
The farm has some spectacular views of rural Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and there are many interesting walks surrounding us.
Inside our 17th century barn we have a range of lunches and home made cakes available and you can also browse our products and choose from our large variety of lavender plants on offer.
Hitchin Lavender is open to the public between May and September each year.  We think we have something quite special here, why not come and experience what the lavender can offer you!
